Shefali Desai captivated us through her powerful writing on an asylum seeker. She shared with us the multiple layers we all have as human beings. Her journey has included but not limited to her being a writer, mother, lawyer, child of immigrant parents and a feminist. This has led her down the path to fighting for human rights for asylum seekers.
