“Child Pregnancy is Torture” –  Women’s rights advocates are beginning to focus on the problem of Latin American girls under the age of 14 who are forced to bear the children of their rapists.  Of the 7.3 million births to adolescents under the age of 18 that occur each year in the region, more than two million are to girls under the age of 15.

Cladem (Latin American and Caribbean Committee for the Defense of Women’s Rights) is carrying out the campaign “Child Pregnancy is Torture”, which has contributed to raising awareness about this silenced issue in the international community.
