Five candidates spoke during the meeting: Tom Nerini for MCCCD Board who has already won to be appointed to finish Alfredo Guttierez term; Kathy Hoffman for Superintendent of Schools; Raquel Teran, House LD 30; Martin Quezada, Senate LD 29; Rebecca Rios, Senate LD 27. It was very interesting and inspiring to hear their stories and the plans for next session.
Carmen Linero Lopez, Organizer for Feminist Majority, also spoke. She has 100 students across the state she has hired to work on getting students registered and out to vote. She is working in the nine community colleges in Maricopa County, ASU and just started at NAU. She has also been working, as has our member, Dianne Post, on the ERA campaign with Equal Means Equal.
