Our Central Phoenix • Inez Casiano NOW chapter tabled at the Women’s March for a day of solidarity with women and addressing key issues that are important to women like the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Many women stopped by our table and signed a petition asking Arizona to ratify the simple amendment that guarantees “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.”

According to the AZcentral.com news there were about 6,700 people at the march.

What we observed while there were the numbers of young people that attended and we were very encouraged by the knowledge that they had about politics and women’s issues.

This year’s theme was “Rising Together,” and the event saw a diverse array of participants representing numerous organizations, as well as individuals.

Indigenous women led the Phoenix march, with banners declaring “Honor Indigenous Women” and “Rise Stand with Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women.”

The thousands who attended Saturday’s march drew up colorful signs celebrating women and denouncing Trump. Some turned out for specific reasons and issues, while others sought to show solidarity with women.

We support the women that came out to march and are determined this year to create the support we need to ratify the ERA.
