Michelle Dorsey came to speak to us on the recent 62nd Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations which took place in March. The CSW is the UN’s largest gathering on gender equality and women’s rights. It is the single largest forum for UN Member States, civil society organizations and other international actors to build consensus and commitment on policy actions. There are different priority and review themes each year. This year the priority theme was challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls. The review theme was women in the media, specifically women’s participation in and access to the media, information and communications technologies.
